Back again

I'm finding the structure of Singapore somewhat appealing. After experiencing the madness of other places, this does not feel much like Asia. But the rules are so clear cut here, there's no need to think. You can concentrate on shopping and eating. A bit Orwellian, but quite pleasant. After a delayed flight, landing in Singapore was breathtaking. The view across the ocean with floating clouds and tiny islands as the sun set was magnificent. How huge this world is and how little I've seen. How minuscule I am.

Al Fresco dining the Singaporean way was my first experience -in "food street" a hawker centre where I reserved my table simply with a box of tissues, ordered food from a selection of amazing food stalls and ate fresh seafood noodles for under $5. Pretty good start.

Apart from the humidity, I think I could live here. But probably not in this tiny hotel room:

Amazing descriptions Miss! Miss!
I have heard that Singapore has explicit rules but does it actually feel Orwellian?

More frightened About Big Brother commenting on my blog than Singapore. No it's not really Orwellian because everyone is polite and happy; and wealth is freely shared! Besides there are no laws under BB... Here there are very clear rules! It's a great place.

Except for the rifle wielding police roaming the New Year's celebrations and the subtle messages posted on the station boards to work hard and strive for success and value your family.

Well I guess such messages aren't bad at all. And instead of having their weapons in their holster's they prefer to carry their rifle's. So not Orwellian at all. All good then!
But with a name like Big Brother, I shouldn't sound impressed ;)

So far Singapore sounds great :)

Sounds interesting. When I was last in Singapore I felt like a criminal because I had chewy in my purse.
